Sabadì — perhaps it is the day that does not exist.
A day when we allow ourselves to slow down and reflect on what truly matters.
A day when we pause to reconsider what quality of life truly means to us, and the choices we make in pursuit of it.
A day when we take the time to savour life's small yet extraordinary pleasures.
A day when we rediscover the almost-forgotten taste of apricots we once picked in the countryside as children.
A day when we realise just how different one apple can be from another.
Sabadì is more than chocolate. It is an expression of the Italian art of slow living — an invitation to pause, slow down and savour the moment. The very name *Sabadì* means “the day that does not exist” — a day when we step away from the rush of everyday life, reflect on what truly matters and allow ourselves to appreciate life's simplest pleasures. Every creation is a little moment of indulgence, filled with joy and the sweetness of Italian life. From the first bite of Modica chocolate to a drop of fragrant syrup, Sabadì awakens the senses and transports you to the sun-drenched landscapes of Sicily, where life unfolds at a gentler, more delicious pace.
The story of Sabadì began when its founder, Simone, left behind a demanding career in finance and discovered Modica, a charming town in Sicily renowned for its centuries-old chocolate-making tradition. In 2008, he moved to southern Italy in search of a slower, more meaningful way of life. Just one year later, he opened the doors to his own chocolate workshop.
In 2011, the first Sabadì boutique opened its doors near the magnificent Cathedral of San Giorgio in Modica. The brand's innovative approach to traditional Modica chocolate soon gained recognition. In 2012, Sabadì received its first prestigious award for the best chocolate of Modica — an honour it would go on to earn for many consecutive years. Simone set out to revive and refine the ancient recipe, selecting the finest organic cocoa beans from Ecuador, eliminating white sugar, and working the chocolate for longer at even lower temperatures than traditionally used. The result was a more delicate yet authentic Modica chocolate — preserving its characteristic grainy texture while offering a richer flavour and a longer shelf life.
THE STORY
Sabadì’s philosophy is rooted in the art of slow living and a profound respect for tradition. The brand takes particular pride in having established what it describes as the world's first chocolate-ageing cellar in Modica. Here, chocolate is carefully matured alongside natural aromatic ingredients — tobacco, tea, herbs and spices — giving rise to extraordinary, limited-edition flavour creations. Sabadì is committed to using organic ingredients, working with Fair Trade suppliers and embracing the values of the Slow Food movement. Every detail, from a chocolate bar to an elegantly designed bottle, reflects a dedication to craftsmanship and a refined sense of aesthetics. Each package is thoughtfully designed to capture the eye and convey the magic of what lies within. Every flavour tells its own story, accompanied by a distinctive illustration that not only celebrates its key ingredients but also evokes the nostalgic charm of Sicily — a place where authenticity and simplicity meet imagination and creativity.
UNIQUENESS
What makes Sabadì truly distinctive is its masterful harmony of tradition and innovation. Crafted using a centuries-old low-temperature method, Modica chocolate retains its characteristic grainy texture, as the sugar crystals are never fully dissolved — a time-honoured technique that Sabadì has elevated to a new level of refinement. Made with organic ingredients and no added cocoa butter, this exceptional chocolate reveals an unexpected world of flavours — from Sicilian blood orange zest and wild herbs to sea salt, wormwood and intriguing combinations of chilli peppers. Every bite is a sensory journey through Sicily, evoking the brightness of sun-ripened lemons, the cool shade of pistachio groves and the delicate sweetness of honey. Recognised with the prestigious *Tavoletta d’Oro* (Golden Tablet) award for ten consecutive years, Sabadì embodies an enduring dedication to quality, craftsmanship and the art of exceptional chocolate.
